8.7.3  Interconnected operation via a communications module

8.7.3.1 Overview

The SIGMA CONTROL 2 can communicate with a master controller or control centre via an option‐

al communications module. Depending on the options on the selected machine, this communica‐

tions module may have been factory-fitted or installed as a retrofit kit. In either case, the communi‐

cations module must be set for the respective application in the menu of the SIGMA CONTROL 2.

The SIGMA CONTROL 2 supports the following KAESER communications modules:
■ PROFIBUS (Option C41)
■ Modbus (Option C42)
■ DeviceNet (Option C43)
■ Modbus TCP (Option C44)
■ PROFINET (Option C45)
■ EtherNet/IP (Option C50)

The following prerequisites must be in place before commissioning the communications module:
■ The communications module is correctly installed and connected
■ The bus cabling is connected to the bus master
■ The machine is parametrised as a slave in the bus master
■ The bus master is switched on
■ Voltage is supplied to the machine
■ The machine has been switched on via the «ON» key
■ OFC/SFC: The “Pressure control" operating mode has been set

When all prerequisites have been fulfilled, commission the respective communications mod‐

ule as described below.
The following description of the parametrisation procedure relates to the current version of

the SIGMA CONTROL 2 software. Should the settings in the machine deviate, please contact

an authorised service partner.

8.7.3.2 Commissioning the PROFIBUS module

Machine
1. Open the 8.2

<Communication – Com-Module> menu.

2. Activate the

Com-Module Start check box.

The communication module is activated. The system detects the communication module type

and displays it in the

Type line.
