It  is  recommended,  that  stokers  filled  boiler  house  working  log  regularly,  writing  down  the  main  boiler

operation mode data at a  set periodicity: supply and  return  water  temperatures, pressure, scheduled boiler
service tasks.

Hopper  and  auger  conveyor  operation  is  carried  out  according  to  the  operation  conditions  specified  in

their installation and service manuals (enclosed with the equipment).

6.6.  Most common boiler operation faults and what to do

Table 3

No

Potential problems

Cause

What to do

1.

Condensate leaks
from the boiler,
resins form

Too low temperature of water returning to
the boiler

Check operation of recirculation pump

Adjust mixing valve

2.

Boiler fails to
develop power

Improper fuel

Change fuel supplier

Incorrectly adjusted burner

Call manufacturer’s representative

3.

Smoke temperature
is too high

Heat exchanger is sooty

Clear sooth away from hearth surfaces

Sediment accumulation inside the heat
exchanger

Adjust heat exchanger cleaning device.

Too high chimney draught

Install/adjust smoke exhauster

4.

Constant water
pressure reduction
in the boiler

Leaking welded joints

Call manufacturer’s representative

Equipment was damaged during
transportation

Incorrectly connected equipment

During connection, follow the installation and service
manual

Corrosion or other chemical damage

Use proper system water preparation method
Use proper fuel
Find and remove worn parts

8.

Failures of boiler
drives and electrical
control

Control system failure

Call manufacturer’s representative

Ash removal augers are stuck

If ash removal auger is stuck, eliminate its cause

Drive (heat exchanger control, ash removal)
failure

Check state of the drives. Call manufacturer’s
representative

6.

Sparks, smoke
come out of the
boiler (through
doors and lids)

Sealing ropes are worn

Restore sealing by correcting rope (or other material) in the
grooves or if this does not help use new rope

Door not closed

Remove foreign things from the door gap, then close boiler
service doors and fasten them with handles

Smoke exhauster is out  of operation

Check smoke exhauster

7.

on

Emergency thermostat is active

Controller failure.
See fig. in controller manual *

Fuel supply hose
burned down

Too highly set burner temperature
Bad fuel is used
Dirty burner

Replace hose

Too low draught

Adjust smoke exhauster

9.

Jointed crankshaft
axles.

After opening the heat exchanger door, the
turbulators are not properly placed in the
sockets (see Fig. 8).
