6.
Digital inputs (OMNIGRID Connect built-in)
The two digital inputs on OMNIGRID Connect are implemented as “dry”.
6.1
Digital input 1 - dedicated neutral fault
This input is dedicated to monitor a spark gap.
Detection of an overloaded earth connection (in IT-nets) is realized using a spark gap (aka. disneu-
ter).
The spark gap is required to implement a mechanism for activating a potential free contact (i.e.
“volt free” or "dry") that is connected to a digital input 1 on OMNIGRID Connect.

Key parameters:
•
Cable length:
< 8 m
•
Terminal block:
+65 / -66
•
Default state (no error)*:
“Closed”
•
Galvanic isolation:
No
* The default state of the digital input 1 is “closed”, i.e. when no fault is present, the digital input is
“opened”.
Note
When OMNIGRID Connect is powered up, either “PASSIVE” or “ACTIVE” events are
logged.
