2) Measures to be taken after occurrence of accidents involving
electric shock
It is very dangerous to attempt to exit the cab imprudently
when the crane comes into contact with a high-tension cable
such as a power transmission line. Such actions can make the
situation worse, leading to serious injuries by electric shock.
It is better to stay in the cab.
・
Notification
Notify the electric power company concerned or the relating
management company of the details of the accident
immediately and ask for assistance such as stopping the
power transmission and advice on emergency measures.
・
Evacuation of working personnel from around the crane
Evacuate all workers from around the crane to prevent
secondary disasters from occurring.
If any person injured by electric shock is left in the cab, give
assistance to him only in such a way that he can escape from
there by own effort.
Attempting to rescue him recklessly can result in yourself
being struck by the electricity.
3)
Emergency measures
If it is an urgent need to rescue the operator injured by electric shock from the cab being charged with electricity,
proceed as follow:
1. Move the crane to detach it from the current charging source such as a power transmission line. At this time,
pay attention to the power transmission line because it may be cut and fall down.
2. After the crane is moved out of the range under influence of the electric charge, check to confirm that the cab
is not in charged condition. Then, rescue the operator injured with electric shock and take the steps to transfer
him to a hospital.
4)
Escape from the cab being charged with electricity
It is the best to stay in the cab until the electric power company stops the power transmission through the lines
with which the crane is or may come in contact. However, if it is not possible, operate the crane such that it is
brought out of the range under influence of electric charge and jump out of the cab.
If the machine is in the following conditions, jump out of the cab as distant from the machine as possible
immediately after leaving the operator seat. Be careful that any part of your body does not come in contact with
the machine after landing. Contacting with the machine can lead to an electric shock.
1. The engine cannot be operated.
2. The crane is damaged and inoperable.
3. The cut power transmission cable cannot be detached from the crane structure.
4. Other emergent conditions
5)
Be sure to use the machine involved in such an accident only after being inspected at your authorized KATO
dealer.
