Manual intensive germ reduction
Note
Observe the instructions for use for the instruments.
Intensive germ reduction prevents the formation of microorganisms during extended
periods when the equipment is out of use. During intensive germ reduction, the affer-
ent water ducts are filled with a higher concentration of KaVo OXYGENAL 6.
An additional intensive germ reduction must be carried out during extended periods on
non-use (from 4 weeks).
Intensive germ reduction must be carried out:
▪ At first start-up
▪ Before, during and after prolonged downtimes (more than 4 weeks)
▪ Over the weekend
▪ During vacations

Manual intensive germ reduction procedure in the presence of an
integrated pressure tank
Note
The instruments can be rinsed either with or without the handpieces and cannula.
Non-disinfected handpieces and cannula must be conditioned separately. See the
instructions for use of the instruments
▶ Feel the pressurised water bottle ②, if needed.
▶ Activate one instrument after another as well as the syringe for 20 seconds.
▶ Collect any escaping water in a container.

Instead of the water, the Oxygenal mixture from the pressurised water bottle flows
through the hoses and instruments during this period. The residence time should
last for at least 30 minutes and should ideally take place over the weekend or dur-
ing the semester vacation.
▶ Upon conclusion of the residence time, flush every instrument and the syringe
with water for 20 seconds.
