The strap must not be used at or around the neck. This is associated with the lethal danger of
strangulation and has got to be avoided under all circumstances.
Once the tourniquet is applied the duration and effect of the compression pressure has to be
observed. Particularly take notice of any local skin damage around the strap compression area,
and observe the color and warmness of the skin distal to the strap compression.
Subsequent to exerting the desired medical procedure (e.g. blood draw) open the closure by
pressing the release button in a timely manner.
Do not apply inappropriate force to the tourniquet, such as stepping on the device.
In case of any perceived damage, the tourniquet has to be removed from any clinical use.
The use of partly broken tourniquets may result in patient injuries and excludes any liability
of the manufacturer.
Hygienic scheme:
Follow your institutional policy of the hygienic standards.
After any application on the skin of a patient cleaning and disinfection is advised in order to
diminish the risk of a cross-contamination and addresses all parts of the tourniquet.
Cleaning of the tourniquet may be provided by a soft, damp and lint-free tissue. Remove any
visible contamination.
Disinfection:
Disinfection is performed by applying an alcohol – damped, soft tissue.
Cleaning and disinfection procedures need to be provided manually. Automated washing or
disinfection machines cannot be used with the tourniquet.
No sterilization procedures are approved with this tourniquet.
