Control supply via external 24 V power supply unit
The 24 V connection (X2) (see Figure 4.14 and Figure 4.15) on the top of the
ServoOne CM-L charging module is used to provide the 24 V voltage from an
external
switched-mode power supply (SMPS) to supply the control sections in the
ServoOne CM system.
The
external
switched-mode power supply must meet the following minimum
requirements:
y
Uv = 24 V
±
10 %, stabilised and smoothed (operating voltage)
y
Pv = 840 W (Imax. connector X2: 35 A)
y
The SMPS rated current required is dependent on the configuration of the axis
group
y
Internal polarity reversal protection
y
The power supply unit used must have safe and reliable isolation in relation to
the mains as per EN 50178 or EN 61800-5-1.
y
The starting current for the control voltage can briefly reach 2-3 times the
operating current.
y
If other devices are supplied from this switched-mode power supply, the power
figures must be correspondingly higher.

CAUTION!
Damage to the device due to error in the wiring!

Carelessness may result in significant damage.
The connection 24 V/
GND
on the supply unit is at earth potential (see PELV). By connecting, e.g.
control cable shields, other loads may be damaged. Please check connections first.
4.8 24 V control voltage supply
The 24 V voltage for the supply of the control sections in the ServoOne CM system
BG3+4 can be provided either
y
By the ServoOne SO CM-S switched-mode power supply
or
y
By an external switched-mode power supply via the 24 DC input (X2) on the top
of the ServoOne CM-L charging module.
Note:
Only one of the two options is permitted to be used for the 24 V control
supply!
Note:
The local regulations on cable protection are to be followed!
4.8.1
Control supply with SO CM-S switched-mode power
supply
The ServoOne SO CM-S switched-mode power supply (SO CM-S) provides
the 24 V voltage for the supply of the ServoOne CM system. The SO CM-S
is mounted on the left beside the ServoOne CM-A. The 24 V are distributed
to the ServoOne CM-A active supply unit and from there onward to the entire
ServoOne CM axis group via the busbars. For further information on the
ServoOne SO CM-S switched-mode power supply , please refer to the Operation
Manual SO CM-S (1800.20xB.x).
