13.Lightning – For added protection for this appliance during
a lightning storm, or w hen it is left unattended and unused
for long periods of time, unplug it from the w all outlet and
disconnect the antenna or cable system. This w ill prevent
damage to the appliance due to lightning and pow er-line
surges.
14.Abnorm al sm ell – If an abnorm al sm ell or sm oke is
det ect ed, im m ediat ely t urn t he pow er OFF and unplug
the appliance from the w all outlet. Cont act your dealer or
nearest service cent er.
15.Dam age requiring service – The appliance should
be serviced by qualif ied service personnel w hen:
A. The pow er-supply cord or t he plug has been
dam aged.
B. Object s have f allen, or liquid has been spilled int o
t he appliance.
C. The appliance has been exposed t o rain or w at er.
D. The appliance does not appear t o operat e norm ally
by follow ing the instruction manual. Adjust only those
controls that are covered by the instruction manual as an
improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage
and w ill often require extensive w ork by a qualified
technician to restore the appliance to its normal operation.
E. The appliance has been dropped, or t he enclosure
dam aged.
F. The appliance exhibits a marked change in performance.
16.Servicing – The user should not at t em pt t o service
t he appliance beyond t hat described in t he inst ruct ion
m anual. All ot her servicing should be ref erred t o
qualif ied service personnel.
17.Out door ant enna grounding – If an out side ant enna
is connect ed t o t he appliance, be sure t he ant enna
syst em is grounded so as t o provide som e prot ect ion
against volt age surges and built up st at ic charges.
Art icle 810 of t he Nat ional Elect rical Code ANSI/
NFPA 70, provides inf orm at ion w it h respect t o proper
grounding of t he m ast and support ing st ruct ure,
grounding of t he lead-in w ire t o an ant enna discharge
unit , size of grounding conduct ors, locat ion of ant enna
discharge unit , connect ion t o grounding elect rodes,
and requirem ent s f or t he grounding elect rode. See
Figure.
18.Pow er lines – An outside antenna system should not be
located in the vicinity of overhead pow er lines or other
electric light or pow er circuits, or w here it can fall into such
pow er lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna
system, extreme care should be taken to keep from
touching such pow er lines or circuits as contact w ith them
might be fatal.
19.AC out let s – Do not connect ot her audio equipm ent
w it h a pow er consum pt ion larger t han t hat specif ied
t o t he AC out let on t he rear panel. Never connect
ot her elect rical appliances, such as an iron or t oast er,
t o it t o prevent f ire or elect ric shock.
20. Overloading – Do not overload w all outlets, extension
cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can
result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
21. Attachment – Do not use attachments not recommended
by the appliance manufacturer as they may cause hazards.
22. Replacement parts – When replacement parts are required,
be sure the service technician has used replacement parts
specif ied by t he m anuf act urer or have t he sam e
charact erist ics as t he original part s. Unaut horized
substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other
hazards.
23. Safety check – Upon completion of any service or repairs
to this appliance, ask the service technician to perform
safety checks to determine that the appliance is in proper
operating condition.
