Put the headset on and adjust the band so that
the headset sits comfortably on your head.
Insert the earphone into your ear.
Adjust the volume on the transceiver for a com-
fortable listening level.
Adjust the microphone boom so that the
microphone is approximately 1 3 cm (0.4
1.2 in.) from your mouth.
Attach the VOX unit to your pocket, etc., using
the attached hook.

Place the VOX/PTT switch on the VOX unit to
the VOX position.
Adjust the sensitivity control on the VOX unit to
the desired level. When the ambient noise level is
high, or conditions are windy, you can reduce
the sensitivity by turning the control counter-
clockwise. In quiet locations you can increase
the sensitivity by turning the control clockwise.
The VOX delay is approximately 1 second.
P T T S W I T C H O P E R A T I O N
1. Place the VOX/PTT switch to the PTT position.
2. Press and hold the PTT switch on the VOX unit
whenever you wish to transmit.
NOTE:
During PTT switch operation you can adjust the
microphone sensitivity with the sensitivity control.
To increase sensitivity turn the control clockwise.

Plug
1. Do not increase the volume to a level that may
cause discomfort.
2. The volume level of the transceiver speaker and
headphone are not the same. Be sure to
decrease the volume level before putting on the
headset.
3. The PTT switch on both the transceiver and the
KHS-1 will function regardless of the
switch setting on the KHS-1.
