Service
Troubleshooting
Inspecting Assemblies
Table 8-1 provides a list of items you can inspect in the multimeter. This
inspection may lead to isolating the problem to a user-replaceable part. See
Figures 6-1 for locations of user-replaceable parts.
Check for Heat Damage
Inspect the multimeter for signs of abnormal internally generated heat such as
discolored printed circuit boards or components, damaged insulation, or evidence
of arcing. If there is damage, do not operate the multimeter until you have
corrected the problem.
Check for Correct Address Switch Setting
Verify that the logical address setting is set correctly (factory set at 24). See the
Keysight E1412A User’s Manual and SCPI Programmer’s Guide
for information.
Inspect Multimeter Front Panel/PC Assembly for Damage
Inspect the P1 and P2 connector pins for damage. If you need to replace the P1,
P2, input terminals or BNC connectors, see the sections that follow in this
chapter. To check the pc assembly, remove mainframe power and remove the
multimeter from the mainframe. Disassemble the multimeter and inspect the
assemblies (see "Disassembly/Reassembly" section which follows for
instructions).
If the problem cannot be traced to a user-replaceable part listed in
Table 6-1, return the multimeter to Keysight Technologies for
exchange.
