Keysight M9018A PXIe 18-Slot Chassis Startup Guide
STEP 3: Turn On and Verify Operation of the Chassis System
PC startup requirements for Keysight IO Libraries Suite
Restarting of the PC after Windows is up ensures that Connection Expert 16.0
will recognize the chassis. Note the need, before doing the restart, to wait a
sufficient length of time after Windows comes up if the chassis configuration has
changed. This wait time is also required on the first-ever boot of the PC with of
the chassis.
If Connection Expert 16.0 ever fails to recognize the chassis or appears to have
an incorrect view of the chassis modules, the PC should be restarted using the
sequence shown in Figure 6.
While Figure 6 depicts a system with a remote controller PC, the same
requirement applies to a chassis containing an embedded controller. After
powering up the chassis (which powers up the embedded controller), the
embedded controller should be restarted.
PC startup events for Connection Expert 16.1 or later
With IO Libraries Suite 16.1 or later, the need for the restart shown in Figure 6
has been reduced. However, there is still a need, before starting Connection
Expert, to wait a sufficient length of time after Windows comes up if the chassis
configuration has changed. This wait time is also required on the first-ever boot
of the PC with of the chassis. This sequence is shown in Figure 7.

Even with IO Libraries 16.1 and later versions, it is always advisable to boot the
PC a second time to ensure that the PC properly enumerates the chassis.
