STEP 4: Overview of Installing and
Verifying Keysight Modules
This section provides an overview of installing Keysight modules in the chassis
and verifying their operation. For detailed instructions, see the documentation
provided with your module.
Installation of Keysight modules should only be performed if you’ve been able to
successfully view the chassis slots with Connection Expert as described in
Connection Expert to connect to the chassis”
on page 30. Preferably you’ve also
been able to use the M9018A soft front panel with the chassis as well.
The following procedures should be followed to ensure safety and to minimize
the possibility of damaging electrical components:
-
Before installing any module in the chassis, the chassis must be disconnected
from AC power.
-
To minimize the possibility of ESD damage to a module while installing it,
follow the static-safe handling procedures described in
. Do not touch exposed module connector pins or
components on the printed circuit boards. When removing modules from the
chassis, store them in anti-static envelopes.
-
Modules are usually shipped with thread protectors on the mounting screw
threads. These protectors must be removed before installing modules in the
chassis.
If you’re using a remote controller, ensure that you follow the power sequencing
requirements shown in
“Power sequencing of the chassis”
sequencing is important both when powering up the chassis and powering down
the chassis.
