Note 2: full roll present means that a paper roll has been put into the printer but the paper has
not been inserted between head and rubber roller
Note 3: the printer status shown in the table are referred to “not error condition”, they may
change if an printer error occurs (head temperature, cutter jam, etc.).
16.3.26. Automatic Status Transmission
[Designation] Automatic status transmission
[Format] ASCII
ESC a
Hex 1B 61
Decimal 27 97
[Description] This command activates an automatic status transmission. Once active, the
printer transmits its status each time a change in the status occurs.
As per default (factory set-up), the automatic status transmission is active.
The “Automatic status transmission” is controlled also by the parameter 15, see details here
after in the present document.
Note: if during a printout a paper end occurs (82), the printer doesn't send anymore its status
byte (even with ESC k command) until a new paper roll has been loaded or printer has been
reset (this is a normal behaviour of the printer).
16.3.27. Stop Automatic Status Transmission
[Designation] Stop automatic status transmission
[Format] ASCII
ESC b
Hex 1B 62
Decimal 27 98
[Description] This command deactivates the automatic status transmission.
The printer will not send the status until a new command
<ESC>a
is given.
The printer will return to Automatic status transmission after a reset command or after a power
ON.
To save permanently the “Stop automatic transmission”, send the command <ESC>V<0d> just
after the command <ESC>b.
To return to “Automatic status transmission” permanently, send the commands <ESC>a,
<ESC>V<0d> or send the command to reset factory setting: <ESC>V<0xFD> or send the
command <ESC>V<15d><1d>.
The “Stop automatic status transmission” is controlled also by the parameter 15, see details
here after in the present document.
Note that at power ON or after a printer reset, the printer will send the status byte once, even if
the Automatic status transmission has been de-activated permanently.
16.3.28. Setting Up the Printer
Different memory levels are used for storing the controller settings:
1. "Factory Settings"
Basic settings of the controller are filed under "factory settings". They
can only be changed at the factory.
The
<ESC>V<0xFD>
command allows the user to set the settings back to the "factory settings".
2. "User Settings"
The "user settings" have been created ex-factory as a mirror of the "factory
settings" in the firmware. With the "Set up printer" command, these can be changed by the user
at any time and afterwards permanently saved with the command "Save printer setup". With
each power-on, these settings are adopted by the program for operation.
