IV. WHEELCHAIR USE & CONFIGURATION
T. Backrest
WARNING: Do not lift the wheelchair by the release bar (Fig. 24:A). Lifting the wheelchair
by the release bar may cause parts to fail which could cause a fall resulting in serious
injury or death.

Do not occupy or operate the chair when backrest is not latched. Doing so could in
a fall which could result in serious injury or death.
How to Use the Folding Backrest
1. Pull the release cable (Fig. 21:A), located behind the back frame, outward to release the latch
and fold downward towards the seat frame (Fig. 22).
2. To latch back into place, pull the release cable outward and the back will release and can be
pushed back into the upright position. The backrest will automatically latch onto the side
frame.
3. Ensure a solid engagement onto the latches by pulling back on the backrest frame into the
upright position.
U. Surface Temperature
WARNING: Handling of wheelchair surfaces with elevated temperatures can result in a
potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in injury.
Be aware that prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or other sources of radiant heat may
increase the temperature of surfaces on your wheelchair above recommended limits estimated
by standards.
