Lithium Batteries
Kimberleys are fi tted exclusively with Lithium Iron Phosphate (Lithium) batteries.
Lithium battery advantages include:
Longer Cycle Life
Reduce cost over entire life of battery. Much longer cycle life, at least 5 times longer for the same depth of
discharge and 5 times more current in or out than AGM batteries.
More Power. Less Weight
Lighter at 25% of the weight of USABLE power capacity because of 90% depth of discharge. Can be stored at
levels of 20% with no harmful effect on batteries.
Battery Management System
On board Battery Management eliminates need for more complex battery management in vehicles and battery
can be stored at levels as low as 20% without damage.
What you need to know about Lithium Iron Batteries:
These batteries are weather-sealed and the internals are housed within a rugged plastic casing. They are
maintainence free - the only things you need to do are;
1. Ensure they are charged correctly
2. Store them fully charged
DO NOT:
• Disassemble , crush, puncture or incenerate
• Short circuit external contacts
• Expose to temperatures above 60
°
C (140
°
F)
• Removal of cover plate by personnel (not authorised by Kimberley) will void the warranty.
IMPORTANT: Battery Charger Settings
• The latest DC to DC converters and solar regulators have unusual default battery settings. The
AGM battery setting has a high default setting at 14.7V bulk/absorption which will trip out the
Lithium battery system.
• Ensure that this is set this to ‘
Lithium’
and check that
‘14.4V’
is selected as the setting.
Energy System | Troubleshooting
Battery Charger does not appear to work
Problem
Notes
What If there is NO
LED on the
charger?
Check the AC power input. Is there power?
Check the earth leakage switch- has it tripped?
Check the AC power power switch to the Charger. Is it turned on?
If all these appear to be on but there is still no LED, unplug the charger and plug in a
AC power test plug to validate that there is AC power at the charger.
If you have confi rmed there is AC power to the end of the extension lead with an
auxiliary AC appliance - double check the internal circuit breaker has not been
knocked off.
If this is ON press the test switch on the circuit breaker. If the main switch trips then
power is getting to the circuit breaker.
Next - Test an appliance inside the Kamper on the left side AC plug points. If they test
OK then the issue is the charger.
Next - Unplug the charger plug out of the Kamper and into the extension lead direct.
If the charger still does not work, double check the AC lead has not become dis-
lodged into the actual charger. Turn off AC before fi ddling with the AC lead on the
charger.
The most common cause of failure is if the zener diode and/or a glass AC power
input fuse has blown in the input circuit sealed inside the unit. It has most probably
blown because of a AC power spike or irregular condition - if this is the case, it MAY
NOT be Warranty.
