Kimberley operates only two types of braking systems on all their trailers. All our
products operate hydraulic disk brakes with custom built KK Callipers.
An electronic disc braking system may be fi tted to your Kimberley. This system
provides faster braking response for reduced stopping distance and has the added
advantage of providing in-car control of the brakes. This is also helpful when reversing
up an incline or descending steep terrain. It also reduces brake drag when descending
hills.
Important: This braking system requires the use of an In-cab braking controller—see
following page for recommendation.
How to use your Electronic Braking System
For forward towing, before departure ensure that:
• Park brake is disengaged (see photo A) by turning valve INLINE with frame rail.
Travel with valve INLINE with frame rail.
Under normal forward towing conditions:
• Brakes will be applied when; vehicle brakes are applied or In-Cab controller is used
(see photo B)
• User should become familiar with operation of In-Cab controller in vehicle before
use of Kimberley should begin. To apply brakes with In-Cab controller refer to
relevant Manufacturer’s Operating & Instruction Manual.
• Care must be taken when applying vehicle brake for more than 2min.
(It is recommended by the manufacturer that the parking brake of the tow vehicle
be applied when in situations such as rail road crossings etc where prolonged
braking may be required. Failure to abide with this rule may result in overheating of
the Carlisle Brake actuator).
When reversing:
• In-cab controller can be used to brake your Kimberley without vehicle brakes
being used. Please familiarise yourself with your particular brake controller as the
function and operation vary from brand to brand and model to model.
When camping:
Ensure Park brake is engaged:
1. Turn valve CROSS LINE to the frame rail
(this will release any line pressure-ensure trailer is stable fi rst)
2. Press button on front plate (see photo C).
3. While holding down the button, turn valve CROSS LINE to frame rail.
4. Release button (line pressure should be captured at this stage and your Kimberley
should not be able to move. Once line pressure is captured, wheel chocks should
be put in place)
5. Park brake is now engaged
Always chock your Kamper when parking on a slope even when the hand brake is
applied.

The hand brake is intended only for temporary use.
For prolonged braking, or use as a park brake, it is recommended that the user place stop blocks in front of and
behind the wheels. This is because as with any hydraulic system, there is a chance that the system could bleed
pressure and eventually decrease braking action. Usual example of this is in typical camping scenario or in
storage.
Specifi cations & Maintenance
Disc pads and Fluid intervals as per Over-ride disc brake system.
WARNING:
BRAKE CONTROLLER POWER SETTING MUST BE SET ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER’S
RECOMMENDATION. SEE RELEVENT OWNER’S MANUAL FOR CORRECT SETTING PROCEDURE.
CONTROLLER POWER MUST BE RE-SET WHENEVER YOU ENCOUNTER SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT ROAD
OR LOAD CONDITIONS. DAMAGE CAUSED TO DISC BRAKES AS A RESULT OF AN OVERLY-AGGRESSIVE
SETTING IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
