MAINTENANCE
MAINTENENCE
WARNING:
For your own safety, remove extension cord plug from power source outlet before cleaning or servicing your hedge trimmer.
WARNING:
All repairs, electrical or mechanical, should be attempted only by trained repairmen. Contact the nearest King Canada Service
Center. Use only identical replacement parts, any other may create a hazard. If the power cord is worn or cut, or damaged in any way, have it
replaced immediately.
INSPECTION
If you drop the trimmer, carefully inspect it for damage. If the blade is bent, housing cracked, or handles broken or if you see any other condition
that may affect the trimmer’s operation contact an authorized service center for repairs before putting it back into use.
BLADE LUBRICATION
For easier operation and longer blade life, lubricate the shearing blade before and after each use.
Apply light machine oil (3-in-1 oil) along the edge of the blade as shown in Fig.7.
BLADE SHARPENING
The cutting blades are made from high quality, hardened steel and with normal usage, they will not
require resharpening. However, if you accidentally hit a wire fence, stones, glass or other hard
objects, you may put a nick in the blade. There is no need to remove this nick as long as it does not
interfere with the movement of the blade. If it does interfere, unplug unit and use a fine toothed file
or sharpening stone to remove the nick. Slide the file or stone down the length of each blade until
you reach the pointed end. Hold your fine toothed file or sharpening stone in such a way to
maintain the factory ground angle on the blade. If unsure of the sharpening steps, take your hedge
trimmer to a professional to get sharpened.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
- UNPLUG TOOL! (Unplug extension cord at power source.)
CAUTION: DO NOT POUR OR SPRAY WATER ON THE TOOL IN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAN.
Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never
immerse any part of the tool into a liquid. Do not store the tool on or adjacent to fertilizers or chemicals. Such storage can cause rapid corrosion
of the metal parts.
Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool.
WARNING:
Certain cleaning agents and solvents can damage plastic parts. Some of these are: gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated
cleaning solvents, ammonia and household detergents which contain ammonia. Avoiding use of these and other types of cleaning agents will
minimize the possibility of damage.
