Solar System Installation Guide
Pump Station
The Kingspan Solar Thermomax product range offers dual stream pump stations. The pump stations are available in two
flow rates, 0.5 - 3 gallons per minute and 2 – 8 gallons per minute. There are check valves in the pump station provide
protection against reverse thermosyphoning in the system
.
Connections of the supply and return pipe work to the pump station are 1” ISO / BSPP connections. Kingspan Stainless
Steel piping connections connect directly on to the pump station. Copper sweat adapters are available from Kingspan if
copper piping is used. Be sure that the piping is connected correctly to the pump station! Again, the collector sensor
must be on the return side of the manifold.
The solar loop can be isolated at the pump station. Simply spin the black knobs behind the temperature gages 90°
clockwise to isolate the solar loop.
Expansion Tank
It is recommended that the expansion tank is located below the level of the connection from the pump station in a
vertical position to prolong its life. The expansion tank supplied includes a corrugated flexible pipe (3/4”) to connect to
the Kingspan pump station and a double check valve connector (to disconnect the expansion tank in a reliable and fast
way without leakage). A wall bracket, plugs and screws are also included. These connections require a washer that is
supplied with the expansion tank.
