Row Unit Operation
Planting depth is maintained by adjustable row unit gauge
wheels. Depth adjustment range is approximately 1.2 to 8.9 cm).
1. Raise planter to remove weight from wheels.
2. Push down on depth adjustment handle and reposition
it forward to decrease or rearward to increase planting
depth. Initially adjust all units to the same setting.
3. Lower planter and check operation and planting depth
of all row units. Readjust individual rows as needed for
uniform operation.
“V” closing wheels should have enough down pressure to close the seed trench and ensure good soil to seed contact.
Move 5-position quick adjustable down force lever on the top of closing wheel arm to the rear to increase closing
wheel spring pressure. Move lever forward to decrease pressure. Adjust all row units to a similar setting. Light soil
usually requires less down force at average depth, approximately 5 cm, while heavy soil requires increased down
force.
Eccentric bushings in the wheel arm stop allow for lateral adjustment of the “V” closing wheel assembly. Use a
¾
"
wrench to loosen hardware attaching closing wheel arm to wheel arm stop. Use another
¾
" wrench to turn eccentric
bushings until
closing wheels are aligned with seed trench
. Tighten hardware.
Closing wheels can be installed “offset” (to improve residue flow) or “directly” opposite. Use forward installation holes If
set “directly” opposite.
