9. do not leave equipment in the
raised position when the vehicle
is stopped or unattended.
10. When using implements or at-
tachments with your tractor you
should first read their respective
owner's manual. You should al-
ways keep their safe operation
procedures in mind.
11. You should be familiar with your
equipment and its limitations.
12. if abused or used incorrectly your
tractor can become dangerous to
you and bystanders. overload-
ing your tractor or using unsafe
equipment can also be danger-
ous and should be avoided.
refer to the "specifications of
implement limitation", which out-
lines the maximum load for safe
tractor operation.
15. When working in groups, always
let the others know what you are
going to do before you do it.
16. never "freewheel". disengaging
the clutch or shifting into neutral
while descending a slope as this
could lead to a loss of control.
17. do not operate near ditches,
holes, embankments, or other ter-
rain features which may collapse
under the tractor's weight. the
risk of tractor upset is even higher
when the ground is loose or wet.
13. driving forward out of a ditch
or steep inclines can cause the
tractor to tip over backwards. to
avoid this you should back out of
these positions. four wheel drive
tractors can give you a false
sense of security in the tractors
ability to maneuver out of these
positions, so extra caution should
be taken.
14. never try to get on or off a mov-
ing tractor.
