A QUICK START GUIDE
ULTRASONIC RECORD RESTORATION SYSTEM v3.0 DEC 2020
THIS SUPERSEDES SUPPLEMENT V2.2 AND PRIOR.
First refer to the manual that accompanied your unit. Check frequently the KirmussAudio web site for the
latest manual and instructional videos. AFTER READING THE MANUAL COMPLETELY AND YOU
HAVE FINISHED PREPARING THE SYSTEM AS OUTLINED IN STEP 1 AS EXPLAINED IN
THE MANUAL, this insert is a pictorial guide to assist you. STEPS TO FOLLOW FOR ALL VINYL
RECORDS, NEW OR VINTAGE: (SEE SEPARATE SUPPLEMENT FOR 78 SHELLACKED RECORDS)
WITH THE UNIT TURNED ON, THE TIMER WILL SHOW 5:00.
PRESS THE START BUTTON TWICE AND INSERT RECORD(s)
INTO THE RECORD ASSEMBLY. RECORDS WILL SPIN. THE
TIMER WILL COUNT DOWN TO 0:00.
WHEN THE TIMER IS AT 0:00, THE SYSTEM WILL STOP. THE RECORD STOPS SPINNING.
TAKE THE RECORD OUT, TAP DRY, AND PLACE ON THE FELT SUSPENSION MAT PER MANUAL.
THEN, APPLY A LIGHT SPRAY OF SURFACTANT AT 12,
4 AND 8 O’CLOCK POSITIONS ONTO THE RECORD.
USE THE SUPPLIED BRUSH AND IN A CIRCULAR
FASHION, BRUSH THE SURFACTANT IN.
START THE MACHINE, INSERT RECORD(s) FOR ANOTHER 5 MINUTE CYCLE.
TAKE THE RECORD OUT AT 0:00, PLACE ON MAT.
THEN APPLY SECOND APPLICATION OF SURFACTANT
SPRAY AS BEFORE.
(NOTE: AFTER THE FIRST APPLICATION OF THE SURFACTANT SPRAY AND IF THERE ARE
POOLS OF WATER ON THE RECORD
’S SURFACE OR THOUSANDS OF WATER DROPLETS SEEN WHEN THE RECORD
IS REMOVED, FOLLOW TECH NOTE R4 NOV 15 2018, (NOW USING FOUR, 2 MINUTE CYCLES, WITH A FINAL 5
MINUTE CYCLE, USING THE RABBIT CLOTH TO REMOVE EXCESS WATER BEFORE APPLYING THE SPRAY BETWEEN
CYCLES. NO FURTHER PROCESSING REQUIRED) IF THERE IS NO POOLING: CONTINUE AS BEFORE:
AFTER A CYCLE WITH SPRAY APPLIED AND WHILE BRUSHING IN THE SURFACTANT
IN A CIRCULAR FASHION AND IF YOU SEE ONE OF THESE:
OR
A LIGHT WHITE SUBSTANCE OR BUBBLES
A HEAVY, GREASE - LIKE,
APPEAR BUT EVAPORATE QUICKLY:
TOOTHPASTE - LIKE SUBSTANCE
REMAINS ON THE RECORD OR
VERY SLOWLY EVAPORATES
THIS IS YOUR LAST 5 MINUTE CYCLE,
RUN FOR ANOTHER 5 MINUTE CYCLE,
AFTERWARDS DRY AND THEN POLISH.
THEN RE-APPLY SURFACTANT WITH
BRUSH AND REVIEW MATERIALS
COMING OFF RECORD AS BEFORE
