The Imager
The imager records light when you capture an image. If it should get dirty, the quality of
your images can be affected.
Determining if the Imager is Dirty
Even though the imager is located inside the camera, it can get dirty. There are two ways
to determine whether it needs cleaning:
✔
Capture a test image and look for imperfections that indicate dirt on the imager.
✔
Visually inspect the imager for dirt.
Examining a Test Image
1
Connect the camera to your computer. Refer to “Connecting Your Camera to the
Computer” on page 12-2.
2
Set the lens aperture to its highest f-stop to provide for maximum depth of field. Refer
to “Aperture-Priority Auto Exposure Mode” on page 11-4 and “Manual Exposure
Mode” on page 11-8.
3
Capture an image of a plain white object, such as a clean, white wall.
4
Examine the image on the computer monitor. Imperfections in the image, such as dark
clusters or streaks, may indicate a dirty imager.
