1.  THEORY OF OPERATION

A. COMPONENTS

Your new Kohler Toilet with its Pressure Lite System
consists of three basic component groups.

The vitreous china bowl and tank: directs the flushing
water flow and houses the Pressure Lite system.

The reservoir: contains the complete operating car-
tridge assembly and is the container for the pressurized
1.6 gallons of water used for each flush.

The control components: consists of the backflow pre-
venter, pressure regulator, aspirator, and outlet manifold.
These components work with the incoming pressurized
supply line water to provide a regulated pressure flush to
the toilet bowl.

B. FLUSH CYCLE

Your Kohler Lite toilet is designed to flush completely
and efficiently using only 1.6 gallons of water per flush
(gpf) as opposed to non-water saving toilets which can
use up to 7 gallons per flush. Your one-piece toilet also
features the Pressure Lite operating system that uses
incoming water supply line pressure to compress air in
a reservoir within the vitreous china tank.

A complete flush cycle is actually two separate
functions.

Trip Lever

Hose

1.

When the trip lever is operated, the reservoir piston
assembly is lifted allowing water under pressure to
be directed to the siphon jet bowl for complete
flushing action. As the water level in the reservoir
drops the piston will close, stopping water flow to
the bowl.

2.

After flushing, a charge cycle takes place. Supply
line water flows into the reservoir through the
backflow preventer and pressure regulator; then
across the aspirator which mixes a small amount of
air with the water, filling the reservoir until a
pressure of approximately 20 p.s.i. is reached. The
toilet will be ready for the next flush within 60 to 90
seconds. If the toilet is not ready for the next flush
within that time, refer to the troubleshooting chart.
