Compression Algorithm of Kollector
Comparison between analog and digital recording
Analog recording system(ARS) adopting multiplexer and time lapse VTR has
dominated the video recording market for long time. In spite of many
disadvantages compared with digital recording system(DRS), ARS is still widely
being used for security purpose because current DRS is not attractive enough to
meet the user's requirements due to system instability, high installation cost, very
large picture file sizes and inefficient storage mediums, etc.
Now, as digital process technique develops, the Kollector system offers a new
type of DRS with high reliability and relatively low cost and thus can meet the
user's need in the field of not only data recording but also data transmission for
remote surveillance as well as solving the long time dilemma related to picture file
size and long term video archival. Considering this situation, ARS is expected
to be replaced by DRS, gradually, however, can once again only be
accomplished if new compression technologies are developed.
