9.
Turn the filter cartridges (3) (2 pieces) counterclockwise by
using the filter wrench, and remove it.
When doing this, to prevent get splashed with drained oil,
do not perform this operation right under the cartridge.
In particular, if this work is performed immediately after
stopping the engine, a large amount of oil will come out, so
wait for approximately 10 minutes before starting the work.
10. Clean the filter head.
11. Fill the new filter cartridge with clean oil.
12. Apply oil (or thinly apply grease) to the packing surfaces
and thread portion.
13. Install the filter cartridge.
When doing this, be careful not to damage the outside cylinder of the cartridge.
When installing the filter cartridge, tighten until the packing face is in contact with the filter head, then tight-
en a further 3/4 to 1 turn.
14. Add the specified amount of oil through the oil filler port (F).
15. Run the engine at low idle for a while.
16. Check that the engine oil level is in the specified range.
17. Close the engine side cover.
18. Install the cover of the engine underguard.
REMARK
When the ambient temperature is low, water or emulsified matter may stick to the dipstick and oil filler cap, etc.,
or the drained oil may be milky white because of water vapor in the blowby gas. However, if the coolant level is
normal, it is not a problem.
There is no problem even if the emulsified matter cannot be removed completely after changing the oil.

WARNING
• Allow parts and oils to cool to touch before you perform maintenance.
• While the engine is running, high-pressure is generated in the engine fuel piping.
Wait 30 seconds or more after the engine stops, for fuel pressure to decrease before you replace
the filter.
• Do not bring any open flame close.
NOTICE
• Komatsu genuine fuel filter cartridges use a special filter that has highly efficient filtering ability.
When replacing the parts, Komatsu recommends using Komatsu genuine parts.
• The common rail fuel injection system used on this machine consists of more precise parts than
those in the conventional injection pump and nozzles. If any cartridge other than a Komatsu genu-
ine filter cartridge is used, dust or dirt may get in and cause problems with the injection system.
Never use a substitute.
• When performing inspection and maintenance of the fuel system, be careful not to let any dirt or
dust get in, more than ever before. If dust sticks to the fuel system, wash it off thoroughly with fuel.
Items to be prepared
• Container to catch the fuel
• Filter wrench
