The water separator forms one unit with fuel prefilter (1).
2.
Check for water and sediment.
It is possible to judge the water level and amount of sedi-
ment by looking through the transparent cup (2).
NOTICE
If the water in transparent cup (2) freezes, wait until
the frozen water has melted completely, then follow
the procedure to drain the water.
3.
Place a container to catch the water under the drain hose
(3).
4.
Loosen the drain valve (4) and drain the water.
5.
When fuel starts to be drained from the drain hose (3), tighten the drain valve (4) immediately to stop drain-
ing.
Tightening torque: 2.5 to 3.4 Nm {0.25 to 0.35 kgm,1.81 to 2.53 lbft}
If the drain valve (4) is hard to move, adjust it.
METHOD FOR ADJUSTING DRAIN VALVE
1.
Turn the valve (6) at the bottom of the fuel tank to CLOSE
position (S).
2.
Place a container under the fuel prefilter cartridge to re-
ceive the fuel.
3.
Loosen the drain valve (4) and drain water and sediment
from transparent cup (2), and also drain all the fuel accu-
mulated in the fuel prefilter cartridge (1).
4.
Check that nothing more comes out from the drain hose
(3), then remove the drain valve (4).
5.
Apply a suitable amount of grease to the O-ring (7).
REMARK
When applying the grease, be careful not to allow the
grease to adhere to the water drain port (8) and threaded
part (9) of the drain valve.
6.
Tighten the drain valve (4) by hand until it contacts the bot-
tom of the transparent cup (2).
7.
Remove the fuel container.
8.
Turn the valve (6) at the bottom of the fuel tank to OPEN
position (O).
9.
Bleed air from the fuel system.
REMARK
For air bleeding, see “PROCEDURES FOR BLEEDING AIR FROM FUEL CIRCUIT”.
