Motor Shaft Drilling.
Note: Prior to assembling the
blower housing and rotor to the mo-
tor, the motor shaft must be drilled
and tapped to accept a 5/16"-18
UNC x 3/4" bolt and washers. (In
some instances, motors supplied
by the factory may have the shafts
pre-drilled and tapped for an M8 x
20 mm Metric Bolt). Please refer to
assembly instructions and diagram
Detail A.
Note: It is very important to drill
and tap the motor shaft and to
secure the rotor to the shaft with
the bolt and washers as de
-
scribed in the assembly instruc
-
tions.
Assembly Instruc-
tions.
Refer to assembly diagram.
1 Place the half housing on to
the motor flange and rotate the
housing to align the bolt holes.
Note:
Take care to consider
what position is best for access
to the motor wiring box when the
blower is installed.
2 Mount the half housing to the
motor with four 3/8" x 3/4" bolts
and 3/8" lockwashers and tight-
en the bolts.
3 Install the fan rotor all the way
on the motor shaft and insert the
key.
4 If the motor shaft extends be-
yond the end of the rotor, install
a 5/8" x 1 1/4" x 1/4" spacer
bushing over the end of the
shaft. If the motor shaft does not
extend past the rotor the spacer
will not be needed.
Note:
In some cases you may
need to shorten the key in order
to allow the spacer to sit flush
against the rotor busing.
5 Install the 5/16" (or M8) bolt,
with both a large washer and
lockwasher, in the end of the
motor shaft and tighten.
6 Install the outer half housing
over the rotor and attach the
blower housings together with
two M6 x 12 mm screws, serrat-
ed washers and nuts. Place one
bolt in the hole nearest to the
blower outlet on each side of the
housing.
7 Install the bolt tightener bracket
on the bottom side of the blower
housing with the M6 x 16 mm
screw, serrated washer and nut.
8 Install the housing clamp with
the M6 x 16 mm screw, serrat-
ed washer and nut. Start at the
fixed end on the top side of the
fan housing, and carefully wrap
the clamp around the seam to
seal the housings together.
9 Insert the M8 x 70 mm tightener
bolt with 1 washer, through the
tightener bracket and the end
of the housing clamp. Install a
second washer and secure with
nut.
10 Slowly draw the clamp around
the housing with the tightener
bolt.
Note:
Lightly tap the clamp with
a rubber mallet along the edge
of the seam to firmly seal the
housings together and secure
the bolt and nut.
11 If the fan inlet will be exposed
during operation install the fin
-
ger guard grill with the OK160
bolt clamp provided.
Note:
If optional stand is used
- attach stand to blower then
install finger guard grill to the
stand with OK160 clamp pro-
vided.
