Grilling
When the lid is closed, the temperature
on the cooking grate is higher than indi-
cated on the thermometer (approx. 280-
300 °C). When the lid is open, the tempera-
ture on the cooking grate is only 220-240 °C.
The highest temperature in the grill is
reached directly a few centimetres above
the flames and then decreases. Since the
used air must leave the grill with the greasy
vapours, and the air cools down inside the
top of the lid, a lower temperature is dis-
played there.
• Before using, brush the cooking grate
with a little cooking oil.
• Pre-heat the grill for a minimum of 5-10
minutes with the lid closed. The tempera-
ture achieved can be read off on the built
in thermometer.
• Always ensure that you cook with the lid
closed. Opening the lid extends the cook-
ing time.
• Use only sparingly oiled food and allow it
to drain sufficiently before cooking.
Direct grilling
The items to be grilled are placed directly
over the burners and are cooked at high
temperatures.
Indirect grilling
For indirect grilling, the items are not placed
directly above the burners, but on the cook-
ing grate to the side of the burners and
cooked gently at lower temperatures. The
grilled food doesn’t burn, remains juicier
and, in short, is more healthy.
Using the side burner
CAUTION!
■
Only operate the side burner with the
permissible size of cookware, not
larger/smaller or without). This can
cause burns.
■
Do not operate/load the side burner
with more than the permitted weight,
this may cause damage to the appli-
ance and injury.
Permissible dimensions of the cookware,
see “Technical data” on page GB-29.
• Do not place cookware at an angle to the
burner as this may cause high tempera-
tures in the control knob and surrounding
materials.
