Ethernet Interfaces
2.2.1
Intel 82571EB LAN with copper interface
The ATCA AMC interface is implemented with two Intel dual-port Gigabit Ethernet controllers. Each
controller supports two 10/100/1000 Base-T.
The LAN features high performance with TCP/IP and UDP/IP checksum offloading for IPv4 and IPv6,
packet filtering, and jumbo frame up to 16K. See
www.intel.com
for additional details on this
controller.
2.3
Redundant MMC Flash & FWUM
The MMC microcontroller runs a firmware from its internal 256KB flash. It is programmed by another
microcontroller named FWUM (FirmWare Update Manager). The FWUM keeps the last two copies of
the MMC firmware in dedicated flash memories. It act as a watchdog to the MMC and can rollback a
firmware update in the MMC in case of problems.
The FWUM itself is a microcontroller with internal flash to store MMC firmware image. Functions of
this microntroller are kept to a minimum. The FWUM firmware is field updatable.

There are no specific BIOS setting.
Make sure that the AMC carrier has it's AMC ROM BIOS enabled if you want to boot from LAN
Note:
The MMC and the FWUM have an internal hardware watchdog.
