EBC2 System Overview
The EBC2 is a special purpose E²Brain™ module carrier board which is designed to provide
customers with a platform for the development of their own applications based on Kontron’s
E²Brain™ high performance processor modules. This carrier board takes advantage of an ex-
tensive range of the many features offered by these modules thus allowing developers to be-
come familiar with their capabilities without having to first invest time and engineering
resources in the development of an operational test environment.
In addition to supporting application development for the E²Brain™ modules themselves, the
EBC2 can also be used as a model for the development of application specific carrier boards.
Designed as part of an overall system development kit, the EBC2 provides a comprehensive
set of industry standard interfacing as well as test and programming interfaces. Coupled with
an appropriate E²Brain™ module, board support package (BSP), and operating system it is an
ideal starting basis for rapid efficient system application design and integration.

Product Overview
The EBC2 E²Brain™ carrier board is a part of an innovative concept to provide system integra-
tors with a complete range of off-the-shelf as well as custom embedded computer cores for the
most demanding of applications.
This carrier board which supports the EB405, EB425, or the EB8540 E²Brain™ module as its
computer core provides a comprehensive set of standard computer functionality coupled with
industry standard system and communications I/O capability.
