Compatibility with the M3
The M50 can load M3 format .PCG and .SNG files while
converting them. Data compatibility is supported for
loading and saving each type of data via media.
However, the following limitations and cautions apply.
Note:
M50 format .PCG and .SNG files cannot be loaded by
the M3 itself (as of April 2008, M3 system version 1.2).
However, you can use the Import/Export function of the
included M50 Editor/Plug-In Editor software to transfer
data between the M3 and M50. (The performance data of a
song is not handled by the Import/Export function.)
Note:
Complete data compatibility is supported for .MID
and .EXL data. This data can be loaded and saved via
external media.
KARMA function
Since the M50 does not provide a KARMA function,
KARMA-related parameters will not be loaded. After the
data is loaded, the various arpeggiator-related parameters
will be set to their default value.
EXB-RADIAS option, Sampling function, X-Y
MODE function, Control Surface - Mixer/KARMA,
Audio Input, AUX Bus
Since the M50 does not have these functions, the
corresponding parameters will not be loaded.
“Control Assign” parameters
(Program, Combination, Song)
The M3’s control surface
Control Assign
parameter setting
(except for External) will all be set to Realtime Control.
Pad parameters
(Program, Combination, Song)
The M50 provides four chord trigger switches. The M3
provides use eight pads.
The parameter settings for pads 1–4 will be loaded into
chord trigger switches 1–4 respectively.
The parameter settings for pads 5–8 will not be loaded.
“BUS Select” parameters
(Program, Combination, Song, Drum Kit)
The M50 provides two audio outputs, L/MONO and R. The
M3 provides six audio outputs; L/MONO, and R.
When an M3 file is loaded, the various
BUS Select
parameters and
DrumKit IFX Patch
parameters will be
maintained as internal data, but will actually operate
(*)
in
the following ways.
Metronome Setup “Bus Select” parameters
(Song)
Bus Select
parameter settings will be maintained as internal
data, but will actually operate
(*)
in the following ways.
External Setup parameters (Global)
The slider 1–8 settings of the M3 will be loaded as settings
for knobs 1–8.
The pad 1–4 settings of the M3 will be loaded as settings for
chord trigger switches 1–4.
The switch 1–8 settings and pad 5–8 settings of the M3 will
not be loaded.
“MIDI Clock” parameter (Global)
The
MIDI Clock
External FireWire setting is maintained as
internal data, but the system will operate as though this is
set to Internal.
Various parameters in Global mode
Settings for the various Global mode parameters related to
the following functions will be converted as follows when
they are loaded.
The following M3 parameters that have no counterpart on
the M50 will not be loaded.
• System Clock
• L/R Bus Indiv.Out Assign
• MIDI CC# Assign - KARMA Controllers, X-Y, Pad 5...8
• KARMA GE Category Names
The following M3 parameters that have no counterpart on
the M50 will be maintained as internal data, but will be
ignored.
• Auto Optimize RAM
• X-Y MIDI Out
• MIDI Routing - KARMA External
