sound while you modify it.
5–1: Audio CD
Here you can play back an audio CD inserted in a CD-R/
RW drive connected to the USB A connector, or copy audio
in the digital domain directly from an audio CD (“ripping”).
You can sample from an audio CD in either of the following
two ways.
• You can control the CD playback from the TRITON
Extreme, and sample the analog audio signal input that
is converted into digital data. To input the audio signal,
connect the analog audio output of your CD-R/RW
drive to the TRITON Extreme’s AUDIO INPUT jacks.
The sampling procedure is the same as when sampling
any analog audio source from the AUDIO INPUT jacks.
Make settings as described in “Input” Analog (0–2a),
and control the CD playback from the TRITON Extreme.
You will need to set Input1 (L channel) and Input 2 (R
channel) “Level,” “Pan,” and “BUS (IFX/Indiv.) Select”
(normally set to L/R).
• A specified passage of an audio CD can be aquired in its
digital state and saved as a sample. This method, known
as “ripping,” will bypass the additional Digital-to-
Analog and Analog-to-Digital conversion normally
required, and will preserve the digital signal in its
original state. Use the page menu command
“Destination” (5–1A) to perform Ripping.
Some CD-R/RW drives do not support ripping (i.e., a
CD-R/RW drive that does not read CD-DA data). In
this case, the display will indicate “Error in reading
from medium.”
If you’re using a drive that does not have audio out-
put jacks or a headphone jack, you won’t be able to
monitor the sound.
Use the various SEQUENCER keys to control the audio CD.
5–1a: Location

Indicates the current location of the track being played
(“Track”). When stopped, this indicates the location at
which playback will begin. If you re-select “Track” or
“Index,” this will be 00:00.0.
