PID control data configuration
5-6-1
Data format of the control parameter
The data format for the three main PID control variables (SP, PV, and control output) is determined by the choice of process
variable ranges and resolution (and the bias value for R+04 also uses this data format). Select either 12, 15, or 16 bits in length
available and either unsigned or signed (the most significant bit represents a sign) data format. Select from five combinations
using 0, 1, and 9 bits of PID mode 2 R +01. When you select a data format from the menu, the KPP PID configuration dialog
automatically sets these bits.
Various data formats can be selected. This data format determines the numeric interface between the PID control and the PV
sensor and the control output device. The set points also have the same data format. Typically, the data format is selected during
the initial PID control configuration and does not change thereafter.
(1)
Unsigned and signed selection
Select the presence or absence of a sign to select the data format. Most applications, such as temperature control, use only a
positive number and are therefore unsigned choices. Usually, the presence or absence of a sign is determined by the control
output. For example, the velocity form may include forward and backward control. The required control output at the zero
speed set point is zero. In that case, you must use a signed form.
Note: DirectSOFT4 and DirectSOFT5 are not supported.
Be sure to use KPP Ver1. 5.0.0 or higher.
