Small differential gains may now be added to further improve the proper condition of the proportional band. Note that at this
point the proportional and integrated gains are very close to the final value. The addition of some differential operation without
generating the control vibration increases the proportional gain. The differential operation tends to make the proportional band
slightly smoother, so adjust these gains together.

Automatic tuning procedure
Automatic tuning is performed using KPP. First, automatic tuning can be used to create PID parameter (constant) values
(automatic tuning does not run continuously). Whenever significant changes in control power (process quantity, actuator size,
etc.) occur, you need to repeat the tuning operation to obtain the new gain required for optimal control.
Warning
Persons familiar with the process should adjust and modify PID control. Automatic tuning in a process where the
control output value changes dramatically affects the process. In order to minimize damage to people and equipment,
carefully consider the impact of any change. Be knowledgeable about the process before performing auto-tuning of
the SJ-Ether.
Note: DirectSOFT4 and DirectSOFT5 are not supported.
Be sure to use KPP Ver1. 5.0.0 or higher.
The control controller has both closed-loop and open-loop methods. For using automatic tuning,
when the control cannot be stopped in the automatic mode (manual mode), use the open-loop method first.
Use the closed-loop method with automatic tuning. How to use the automatic tuning function and what happens with open-loop
and closed-loop automatic tuning are describes in the following section.
To use the auto-tuning feature, use the 3-bit PID mode setting 2 R + 01 as shown below.
When you use the automatic tuning feature in KPP, KPP automatically manipulates these bits. At each control bit, start
automatic tuning, select PID or PI adjustment, or select closed loop or open loop tuning. If you select tuning by PI, the
automatic tuning sets the differential gain to 0. The control mode and alarm condition R+06 indicate the status of automatic
tuning. During automatic tuning, bit 12 turns ON (1) and returns to OFF (0) automatically upon completion.
