Battery ON/OFF setting
In the SJ Ether series, a lithium battery (commercially available CR2354) can be used to hold the content of the system RAM
storage memory even if it is not connected to an external power source. Refer to 7-3 Battery Installation/Replacement Method for
how to mount/replace the battery.
2-10-1
Battery setting
For systems that use batteries, set bit 12 on R7633 after mounting the batteries. In this mode
When the special relay SP25 is turned off and the battery voltage is below DC2. 5 V, the SP43 turns on and error E41 occurs.
If error 41 occurs, replace the battery immediately. The battery life should be approximately three years.
Refer to 2-4-3 Special Relay List for special relays.
2-10-2
Battery-free setting
When bit 12 of R7633 is set to OFF, the battery-free mode is set and the SP25 is turned ON. (System parameter
Initialization state)
When the power is turned off in the no-battery mode, the function memory of the power failure holding area, the value of the
calendar/clock, and the power supply are turned on.
The CPU operation mode is not guaranteed (indeterminate).
In the no-battery mode, no errors occur when the battery voltage falls below the DC 2.5 V even if the battery is attached.
Even if the battery is attached, the following points are different when the battery setting is present or not present.
①
The voltage of the CPU battery is not detected.
②
Functional memory is backed up in case of power failure according to the system parameters as in the normal mode. In this
case, the power failure is maintained by a large capacity capacitor inside the CPU. If the retention time is exceeded, the data
in the power failure holding area above is undefined.
③
When the power failure retention time has passed, the memory of the operation mode before the power is disconnected is
undefined. Therefore, always set the mode selector switch to the RUN position when the power is restored in the no-battery
mode.
Note: Functional memory set to hold power failure even in battery-free mode is backed up. When the power is
turned off, the function memory value in the power failure holding area is not guaranteed (indeterminate). When
using without a battery, initialize the register content used in the initial scan or disable the power failure holding
setting (STOP

⇒
Function memory is cleared to 0 when switching to RUN mode).
