Overview
Defi ning inputs and outputs for audio and video sources
The surround sound processor is at the heart of any home theater system. The Evolution
707 is very fl exible in regards to integrating audio and video sources. It is recommended to
defi ne and map out how each source component will be connected to the processor, how
the Evolution 707 outputs will be connected to various amplifi er channels and eventually
amplifi er channels be connected to speakers. Any of the push button presets on the
front panel or remote control can be changed to accommodate different audio or video
assignments.
Here are the default input presets for audio and video devices.
Video Input and output connections
Digital Video Options
HDMI
–
(High-Defi nition Multimedia Interface) is an audio/video connection or
interface for sending and receiving uncompressed audio and video data. HDMI
supports video from HDMI is also the exclusive carrier for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD
Master Audio Formats. There are (4) HDMI inputs and (1) Output on the Evolution
707. The Evolution 707 uses HDMI connections for HDMI audio and video.
Analog Video Options
Component Video – A High-defi nition video connection standard featuring three
dedicated signal paths for Red, Blue and Green. This video standard also supports
uncompressed video but does not carry audio data and would require the use
of an audio interface to be used in conjunction. There are (3) Component video
inputs (1) output and (1) zone 2 output. The Evolution 707 uses RCA connections for
component video.
S-video
–
(Separate Video) A standard defi nition connection featuring a data path for
brightness and one for color. A step up from composite video in resolution that also
does not carry audio data and would require the use of an audio interface to be used
in conjunction. There are (4) S-video inputs (1) output and (1) zone 2 output. The
Evolution 707 uses 4 Pin S-video connections for S-video.
Composite Video
-
A low defi nition connection combining sync information,
brightness and color over one conductor. Composite video does not carry audio data
and would require the use of an audio interface to be used in conjunction. There are
(4) composite inputs (1) output and (1) zone 2 output. The Evolution 707 uses RCA
connections for composite video.
