8417.8/20-EN
– The MA manual gearboxes developed by KSB-AMRI cover torques of up to
250 Nm.
– Force transmission via planetary gear makes them ideally suited for centred-
disc butterfly valves.
– Exterior coating: polyurethane, average thickness 80 µm, colour: RAL 9011
black
– Actuator/valve interface to ISO 5211
– Interchangeable insert enables mounting of actuator on different types of
shaft ends (square or flat).
– Ambient temperature: -20 °C to +80 °C
– IP65 enclosure
▪
MA manual gearboxes can be equipped with an electrical limit switch box.
– This limit switch box is mounted between the valve and the gearbox.
– It can be equipped with two switches (1 for OPEN, 1 for CLOSED) of the
following types:
- Standard microswitch or explosion-proof microswitch
- Standard proximity sensor or proximity sensor to NAMUR
– Connection is effected either by cable gland or connector.
– This limit switch box is supplied in IP65 enclosure as standard.

4.6 Function
Design
The butterfly valve consists of the pressure-retaining parts, i.e. body 100, actuating
shaft 213, the functional unit (shaft 210, valve disc 550), elastomer liner 413 and the
actuating element.
Function
The valve is actuated via a lever, manual gearbox or electric actuator.
Sealing
Valve disc 550 and the actuating shaft are joined by keys 940 or splining and sealed
to atmosphere by elastomer liner 413.
Shaft in anti-blow-out
design
The shaft in anti-blow out design ensures that the shaft of the pressurised valve
cannot be pressed out of the pressure-retaining body.
4.7 Scope of supply
The following items are included in the scope of supply:
▪
Valve with actuating element
▪
Valve operating manual
▪
Actuator operating manual
4.8 Noise characteristic
When operated within the operating conditions documented in the order
confirmation and/or characteristic curves booklets, the valve will not exceed a sound
pressure level of 80 dB in acc. with IEC 60534-8-4. Unfavourable piping layouts or off-
design operating conditions may give rise to physical phenomena like cavitation,
resulting in significantly higher sound pressure levels.
