Do not loosen lock nut
at the top of the shock absorber.

Turn the adjusting ring until the spring is no longer under tension.

Measure the overall spring length when not under tension.

The spring preload
is the difference in length between the spring when it
is unloaded and when it is installed.

Tighten the spring by turning the adjusting ring to the specified measurement.

Tighten the lock nut and the adjusting ring.

Adjusting ring
is made of plastic. Therefore, do not lock the adjusting
ring too tightly to avoid damaging the thread.
If you increase the spring preload, you should also slightly increase the
rebound damping.

Install the rear shock absorber. (

Removing the rear shock absorber

Jack up the vehicle. (

Remove the rear fender. (

Note
Danger of damage
The chain sliding piece and frame can be damaged from incor-
rect handling.

When removing the rear shock absorber, secure the swingarm with a tension
belt to prevent it from swinging down further.
–
Attach the swingarm to the subframe with a tension belt
to relieve the shock
absorber.
–
Remove the bottom screw of the shock absorber.
Tip
Press the screw out of the swingarm with a screw driver while moving the
tension belt.
–
Remove the top screw
of the shock absorber and carefully remove the shock
absorber out of the vehicle toward the rear.
