OPERATING THE ENGINE
To avoid serious injury:
A
Read and understand "SAFE OPERATION" in
the front of this manual.
A
Understand the pictorial safety labels located
on the machine.
A
To avoid danger of exhaust fume poisoning, do
not operate the engine in a closed building
without proper ventilation.
A
Never start the engine while standing on the
ground. Start the engine only from the
operator's seat.
A
Do not use starting fluid or ether.
A
To protect the battery and the starter, make sure that
the starter is not continuously turned for more than 30
seconds.
A
Operate, use and maintain the engine, including the
emission control system, in accordance with the end
user instructions, so that the engine's emission
performance is kept within the thresholds applicable to
the engine's category.
A
Do not deliberately tamper with or misuse the engine
emission control system, especially with regard to
deactivating or not maintaining an exhaust gas
recirculation (EGR) system or a reagent dosing
system.
A
When a warning lamp lights up, the engine is
experiencing a problem, which may also cause
problems with the emission control system. Take
prompt action and rectify any incorrect operation, use
or maintenance of the emissions control system in
accordance with the rectification measures. (See
"ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING" in
"TROUBLESHOOTING" section.)
STARTING THE ENGINE

If the hood is opened, the engine does not start.
A
If the hood has been opened while the engine is
running, the engine stalls.
To apply the parking brake:
Depress the brake pedal firmly with your right foot and the
parking brake pedal simultaneously with your left foot.
Then release the brake pedal while holding the parking
brake pedal down.
To release the parking brake:
Depress the brake pedal and release slowly.
1. Make sure that the hood is closed.
2. Sit on the operator's seat.
3. Apply the parking brake.
