7. Peeling and scraping the ground
1. Produce a short cut and break-out cleanly.
a. Use a slight bucket down angle.
b. Travel forward.
c. Hold the lift control forward to start the cut.
2. With the bucket level, start a cut at the following
notch.
Notch
Approximately 2 in. deep
Hold the depth by feathering the bucket control to
adjust the cutting edge up or down. When the front
tires enter the notch, adjust the boom cylinder to
maintain proper depth.
3. Make additional passes until the desired depth is
reached.
During each pass, use only the bucket control while
at working depth. Using only the bucket control will
allow you to concentrate on controlling the bucket
angle to maintain a precise cut.
8. Loading low trucks or spreaders
from a pile
• For faster loading, minimize the angle of turn and
length of operation between pile and spreader.
• Back grade occasionally with a loaded bucket to
keep the work surface free of ruts and holes. Also,
hold the lift control forward.
The full weight of the bucket is scraping the ground.
Use the heel of the bucket to scrape the ground.
