Safe driving and stopping
(1950 Pure & 1950 Urban)

In the following, you will be given
some advices which will enable you to
have a safe and joyful day to day ride.
Your skills and knowledge about the
vehicle are the basis for a safe journey.
In that respect, test drive the vehicle,
as long as you can, on side roads with
less traffic, in order to get to know the
vehicle. Drive only within the limits of
your abilities.
Pay attention to your clothing when
driving a 1950 Kumpan, make sure
that in case of an accident or fall your
clothing will give you enough protec-
tion
(see p.10)
.
On unfinished roads, drive slowly and
extra carefully.
Please have into your attention: By
longer journeys on wet roads without
braking, the brakes performance is at
the beginning reduced.
In these driving conditions
You should gently press the brakes at
regular intervals.
On wet, slippery or macadam roads do
not drive with the brakes fully pressed.
Avoid suddenly stopes, a fast accele-
ration and emergency stops. Avoid the
start up with a jacked up vehicle. In or-
der to avoid an abrupt start up, the rear
wheel should not be moving, when co-
ming in contact with the pavement. In
case the vehicle will be ridden on sandy
roads, muddy roads or through snowy
or with road salt dirty roads, the brake
disc should be cleaned with a neutral
cleaning solution, in order to remove
the abrasive sediments from within
the gaps of the brake disc because the-
se can lead to an early ware out of the
brake disc.
When the tires profile depth falls below
1,6 mm you have to change them.
Here, pay attention also to the statu-
tory regulations!
The vehicle is with tube- type tires
equipped. In case of a flat tire you can
repair the tube with a commercially
available Bike repair kit (not included
in scope of supply). It is advisable, in
this case, to change the tube. If the tire
coat shows damages, this has to be
changed as well. In case of a flat tire on
the rear wheel, we suggest/ advise you
to leave the reparation in the hands of
a specialized two-wheel service.
