Operations advisory window displayed. As stated in the Local Mode Operations Advisory Window, you
must configure the STE-R to allow local mode operations as described in Paragraph
shown as two steps here, selecting <STE-R> and <Enable Local Mode> could have been performed in
one operation by selecting <STE-R> and <Enable Local Mode>.
NOTE
Once local you have enabled mode operations at both the STE-R and STE Toolset
Program, the Virtual Front Panel will support all Office or Tactical STE operations,
except
those associated with speakerphone operations or other operations unique
to the Office/Tactical STE physical front panel. For example, selecting the visual
indication of the cradle area causes the handset to disappear or reappear, and
sends the off-hook or on-hook commands to the STE-R. (See
10-2.3
Software Download Tool
This tool is capable of performing the Software Download operations on the STE terminals. Since this
operation is performed via the
RED SERIAL DATA PORT 1
for the Office and Tactical terminals and via
the
CONSOLE PORT
for the CEU, Data STE, STE-R, STE-RI, and STE-RT terminals, it is necessary to
select the proper type terminal from the “Options” menu. Make sure the host computer is connected from
the selected COMM Port to the correct connector on the STE.
10-2.3.1 Host, Network, Audio, Modem, Wedge, and KOV-14 Status Boxes
During Software Download operations, your progress is reported by status boxes. The status of the Host
Processor Software Download shows in the Host Processor status box. The software delivery header file
for the Host Processor determines which, if any, sector files need to be downloaded. Thus, your reported
status can vary from “Download Not Required” to “Sending /Sent Signature Packet”, “Sending/Sent
Packet xx” followed by “Download Complete’ or “Download Failed”. Whether or not the Host Processor
download is performed and is successful, the Network download will attempt unless the STE aborts the
download operation.

Your Network Processor download status is reported in the Network Processor status box. The
software delivery header file for the Network Processor determines which, if any, sector files need
to be downloaded. Again, your reported status could vary from “Download Not Required” to
“Sending/Sent Packet xx” followed by “Download Complete’ or “Download Failed”. Whether or
not the Network Processor download is performed and is successful, the Audio download process
occurs, unless the STE aborts the download operation.

The Audio Processor download status is reported in the Audio Processor status box. The STE
terminal type and the software delivery header file for the Audio Processor determine whether a
download needs to be performed. Again, your reported status could vary from “Download Not
Required” to “Download in progress” followed by “Download Complete’ or “Download Failed”.
Whether or not the Audio Processor download is performed and is successful, the Modem
download process is performed unless the STE aborts the download operation.

The status of Modem Processor downloads is reported in the Modem Processor status box. The
STE terminal type and the software delivery header file for the Modem Processor determines
whether a download needs to be performed. Therefore, the reported status could be anything
from “Download Not Required” to “Download in Progress” followed by “Download Complete’ or
“Download Failed”. Whether or not the Modem Processor download is performed and is
successful, the Wedge download process occurs, unless the STE aborts the download operation.

The status of the Wedge Processor download is reported in the Wedge Processor status box.
The STE terminal type and the software delivery header file for the Wedge Processor determines
whether a download needs to be performed. Therefore, the report status could be anything from
“Download Not Required” to “Download in progress” followed by “Download Complete” or
“Download Failed”. Whether or not the Network Processor download is performed and is
