successful, the KOV-14 download process is performed unless the STE aborts the download
operation.
•
The status of the KOV-14 Processor Software Download is reported in the KOV-14 Processor
status box. Since the software delivery header file for the KOV-14 Processor determines whether
a download needs to be performed, the reported status could be anything from “Download Not
Required” to “Download in Progress” followed by “Download Complete’ or “Download Failed”.
10-2.3.2 File, Job Progress Indicators
During the Software Download process, the progress is displayed by gauge indicators. Even at the
highest speed supported by the STE (38.4 kbps), a sector download takes over 30 seconds. To give you
a visual indication that the download is progressing satisfactorily, a File Progress Indicator is updated
after each 2 kB block of data is transferred. The indicator is scaled to the number of sectors to be
transferred and is updated after each sector transfer is completed.
10-2.3.3 COMM Port Settings Box
The user-selected settings of the active COMM Port are displayed in the COMM Port setting box.
Displayed settings include the selected COMM Port, the data rate, parity setting, number of data bits, and
number of stop bits.
10-2.3.4 Software Version Box
As the Software Download progresses through the processors, the current (previous) and new version
numbers are displayed in the Software Versions box.
10-2.3.5 Start, Cancel Buttons
In order to prepare a STE for a Software Download, the STE must be configured to accept the download.
Access the SOFTWARE VERSION menu, via the Office or Tactical physical front panel or the STE Virtual
Front Panel tool for the CEU, Data STE, STE-R, STE-RI, or STE-RT and press
CHANGE
.
CAUTION
Canceling a Software Download can leave the STE in a state that requires a
complete download to recover.
For the Office and Tactical STE terminals, the Software Download tool does not start automatically. This
is to give you the opportunity to check and/or change the settings in the Options menu. When you are
satisfied with these settings, the program is started by selecting the “Start” button. For the CEU, Data
STE, STE-R, STE-RI, or STE-RT terminals, the Software Download Tool is started automatically by the
STE Virtual Front Panel tool. The program can be stopped at any time by selecting the “Cancel” button.
NOTE
A Software Download for all CPUs takes approximately 45 minutes
10-2.3.6 Debug Box
When the Write information to on-screen window check box on the Debug tab of the Options form is
checked, a scrollable text box is displayed in the lower, empty, portion of the Software Download Tool.
Each protocol packet sent to or received from the STE is also written to this text box so you can observe
any protocol problems the process may experience.
If the “Write information to on-screen window” check box on the Debug tab of the Options form is not
checked this text box is not displayed.
In either case, the protocol packets are written to the log file.
10-2.3.7 Wedge S Records
During a Wedge Software Download, each S Record sent to the Wedge is displayed in the Wedge S
Records box. At all other times, this box is not visible.
