4-5.4.2 Create a New Crypto Card Association
The STE supports the creation of Crypto Card associations. Association allows you to place calls at
security levels as high as “TOP SECRET SCI” (depending upon available secure key material and STE
security level settings). Refer to Paragraph
to create an association.
4-5.5 Update
Software
Only the TPA can update software in the STE.
All or part of your STE Software may be updated via a Software Download. The download may update
the software for the Host, Network, Wedge, Modem, Audio, or the Crypto Card, or all the above.
To view the present software in the STE, press

in the REMOVE ASSOCIATION BY NUMBER /
CREATE A NEW ASSOCIATION menu or if the STE is in an idle condition press

The current version of the STE Software is available at the STE Web Site and can be downloaded with
any web browser. Likewise, updates to the STE Users Manual may be downloaded from the L-3 site. If
you need the software by electronic mail or the Manual on a CD, contact the STE Service Center.
Refer to
for procedures to download software and update the STE.
CAUTION
Once you have initiated a software update, DO NOT attempt to abort the update
by removing the crypto card or resetting the power. These actions will likely
corrupt the STE Software.
NOTE
Software updates can take up to 40 minutes, depending on the download data rate
and amount of software to be downloaded. The download data rate is selectable
via the “STE Toolset Program”.
As of release STE 2.6, the history of software versions is shown in
