CRYPTO CARD MANAGEMENT
The Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) performs Crypto Card Management without the need for a
Certificate Authority. The Crypto Card contains a single key set (current and next editions) for Secure
Telephone Unit Type III (STU-III) operations, with a related Compromised Information Message (CIM),
and up to four key sets (current and next editions) for Secure Data Network System (SDNS) operations,
with related Compromised Key Lists (CKL). The STE allows you to:

Rekey STU-III and SDNS keys
•
View Card Key Data
•
Zeroize Key (Card Privilege must be enabled)
•
Remove Terminal/Card Association (Card Privilege must be enabled)
•
View Compromised Key List (CKL) Version (SDNS only)
•
View Compromised Information Message (CIM) Version (STU-III only)
Refer to the menu hierarchy shown in Foldout 2.
Within this Chapter, figures may be accompanied with a table to list the actions that will occur when you
press the specified Soft Key. The desired action to take in each figure is indicated by
BOLD ITALIC
type
in the Press column of the table, which we state again following the figure title.

The CARD MANAGEMENT PRIVILEGES menu (
) provides access to menus supporting the
rekey of crypto cards, viewing card key data, zeroizing keys, removing terminal and card associations and
viewing CKL and CIM version numbers. In order to perform the zeroizing or association removal the
Terminal Privilege Authority (TPA) must enable these features. The other features are available to all
users.
Access this menu from the CRYPTO CARD MANAGEMENT menu (
