As the new KPF number is entered (using the

6-2.2 Perform
Rekey
The Perform Rekey function allows you to update the STU-III and/or SDNS crypto keys on the User Card
presently installed in the STE.
Each time the STE goes off-hook the display shows the status of the keys and a Soft Key to initiate the
appropriate action. Crypto key updates are made as required but at least annually. The Rekey function
can also reached by selecting the function through the menu hierarchy. Both methods are addressed
herein.
To perform a Rekey, a User Card (associated with the STE) must be inserted in the STE. If not, the STE
will display the INSERT CRYPTO CARD menu. After the card an associated User Card is inserted, the
STE advances to the UPDATE REKEY PHONE NUMBER/PERFORM REKEY menu (
press
REKEY
to advance to the PERFORM REKEY menu (
If an invalid User Card (one not associated with the STE) is installed
presented. Without an associated card, the STE will not allow any further action.
