4.3 HCI Software Installation Procedure
Prior to beginning software installation, ensure you have the following items available:
CD-ROM with
NetFramework1.1Runtime.exe and latest version of HCI software
System configured as indicated in Section 4.1 with system administrator
password
NOTE
If an HCI program already exists on the computer, it must be
uninstalled before the new version of HCI can be installed.
Procedures for uninstalling the HCI software are addressed in
Section 14.1 HCI Software Update.
Perform the following steps to install the software and enable the computer to
communicate with the Modem:
a. Insert the CD-ROM with the new software version into the CD-ROM drive.
b. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the CD-ROM device (normally the D:
drive).
c. If the PC does not have NetFramework1.1 installed, do the following:
1) Copy the file titled
NetFramwork1.1Runtime.exe
from the CD onto the C:
drive.
2) Double-click the
.exe
file and execute by following the GUI instructions.
d. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the C: drive and create a new folder titled
IPModemHCI
.
e. Copy the new HCI folder from the CD to the
IPModemHCI
folder on the C: drive.
f. Open the
IPModemHCI
directory on the C: drive, and then open the directory
with the latest version.
g. Double-click the
IPModemHCISetup.msi
file to execute. Follow the instructions to
install the new version of the HCI software. An Icon will be placed on the desktop
at the end of the installation of the HCI software.
4.4 Configure PC IP Address
In order to connect to the Modem, the PC IP address must be set in advance. Follow
this procedure to allow the PC to communicate with the Modem.
a. Select
Start → Settings → Control Panel → Network Connections
. The
Network Connections
window will appear.
b. Right-click the local area connection you need to modify. From the pop-up menu,
select
Enable
. The status will show it
Enabled
.
c. Right-click the enabled local area connection. From the pop-up menu, select
Properties
. The
local area connection properties
window will appear.
d. Scroll down to
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
and highlight. Click
Properties
button
to display the
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties
window.
e. Click
Use the following IP address
:
1) In IP address, type in <192.0.1.X> where X is any number other than 2. (See
