Operating Device Shelves
For devices that are required to reside on a shelf, you can extend and retract the shelf to access the device.
To extend a retracted shelf, turn the two latches to unlock it and pull the device shelf out. The shelf extends up to 1070mm.
To retract an extended shelf, push the device shelf back until it springs back into the locked position, or manually turn the latches
to lock it back into the retracted position.
Note:
For shelves that have a waste bottle tray underneath, do not use the waste bottle as a handle when sliding the
shelf.
When a shelf is extended:
l
Tempo sets the status of all the devices on that shelf from Online mode to Standalone mode to indicate that the device is
not in a robot accessible position.
l
If a run is scheduled while a shelf is extended, the run does not start.
l
If a run is in progress, the robot does not attempt to move a plate to the device until the shelf holding the device is
retracted.
If a robot move to a device on the shelf is in progress and the shelf gets extended, the robot attemps to place the plate since the
move had already been scheduled. Labcyte recommends that you pause Tempo (complete all moves and jobs in progress) before
opening a door and extending a shelf.
Device shelves have interlock sensors that log sensor events and communicate alerts on the Tempo software Alarms Tab. See
and
for more information on how device shelf sensors impact the Access system.
