Insert the abdominal catheter in the rectum or the vagina.
▪
Remove the cap from the abdominal catheter. Be sure that no moisture is
getting into the catheter.
▪
Connect the abdominal catheter to the blue (P
abd
) pressure transducer
(tighten securely!). Be sure to connect in the OPEN position.
▪
Let the patient cough to get any of the access air out before charging the
catheters.

Press the

button to zero all pressures to atmospheric pressure.
▪
Charge the catheters.

Fix the abdominal catheter.
▪
Withdraw the catheter and locate the urethral pressure sensor (P

) at the
maximum urethral pressure (not for UPP).
▪
Ask the patient to cough to check the registration of all pressures. The

should rise equally in response to the cough
and the detrusor pressure (P

) should remain relatively flat.
▪
Fix the bladder catheter (not for UPP).
▪
Start the investigation (cystometry, pressure-flow study, UPP, or
