Measuring Pves, Pura and Pabd
The procedure is as follows:
▪
Put the DT-XX pressure transducers in the holder and connect the
transducers to the CIM module.
▪
Place the pressure transducer holder at symphysis pubis level.
▪
Install a bag of saline in the pressure-cuff.
▪
Put the spike of the flow-reducer into the bag of saline.
▪
Connect the three-way stopcock of the flow-reducer to the pressure
transducer P3 (P
ura
).
▪
Build up a pressure of 300 mmHg with the pressure-cuff.
▪
Set the flow-reducer at a flow rate of 60 ml per hour.
▪
Disinfect the genital area.
▪
Insert the bladder catheter and locate the vesical sensor (P
ves
) and the
urethral sensor (P
ura
) both in the bladder. Connect the catheter to the
pressure transducer P1 (P
ves
) and the pressure transducer P3 (P
ura
).
▪
Insert the rectal catheter and connect the catheter to the pressure
transducer P2 (P
abd
).
▪
Fix the rectal catheter.
▪
Open the clamp of the flow-reducer to start perfusion of P3 (P
ura
).
▪
Flush and zero the pressure transducers and catheters (see § 3.6.5).
▪
With the urethral and vesical sensors in the bladder, click the
Pura=Pves
button in the software program. This is needed to correct the artefact of the
pressure cuff on the registration of the urethral pressure.
